SNMP stands for Simple Network Management Protocol, which is a standard protocol that allows network managers to manage devices on a TCP/IP network:

    What it does
    SNMP allows network managers to:

View or modify network device information

Troubleshoot issues based on notifications from devices
Monitor devices for problems

How it works
SNMP uses an SNMP manager, an SNMP agent, and a Management Information Base (MIB):

The SNMP manager can be part of a Network Management System (NMS)

The agent and MIB are located on the managed device, such as a router, switch, printer, or host

How to enable SNMP on a TP-Link switch
To enable SNMP on a TP-Link switch, you can:

Open a web browser and enter the switch's IP address

Log in with the default credentials: username: admin and password: admin
Click the Maintenance tab, then SNMP/Global Config
Check the Enable checkbox in Global Config and press Apply

TP-Link Managed Switches and Smart Switches support SNMP and can be managed centrally by NMS applications. Some NMS applications that can be used to manage TP-Link switches include: Net-SNMP, iReasoning MIB browser, tpNMS, and PRTG.
